Buncombe County Government is looking for our next webmaster. This position can be remote within a two hour radius and has a salary range up to $84K with the possibility of a 4.5% raise after six months.
The details:
The Buncombe County Webmaster develops new landing pages, updates existing content/pages, updates modules/widgets across site, troubleshoots, A/B tests site elements, creates and reports on web analytics, and other duties as assigned. They must be proficient in C#, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This position will have a strong marketing focus but will work with all departments in the organization and support vendor outside of the organization for special projects/programs and system maintenance. The work will entail proper layout of landing pages, UI/UX and SEO/SEM best practices and implementation, as well as continual testing and optimization of existing content. Must be proficient in WordPress and emerging CMS strategies.
Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; work outcomes must meet and/or exceed productivity and quality standards. Must be able to work as part of a cooperative team environment with another website administrator and independent of direct supervision; adhere to County policies and procedures. Remote work a possibility within a two-hour radius of Buncombe County.
Minimum Education, Training and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three (3) years of related web development/administrator and/graphic design experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Functions of the position:
Coordinate, design, develop, and maintain a consistent user experience for all County websites and applications.
Assist custom application developers, build cutting-edge UIs on all custom applications to maximize the user experience, and assist in maintaining a professional brand for the County.
Monitor site data analytics and dashboards to better understand user traffic patterns and propose updates and upgrades to all County websites and applications.
Assist GIS Department in UI best practices for mapping solutions.
Set up and monitor Google Tag Manager for all County websites and applications to begin the process of recording cross-domain analytics and one-click event tracking.
Set up and monitor quarterly Google Analytics reports on all internal and external websites and applications to begin the process of understanding each tool’s user base and to maximize the effectiveness of all upgrades.
Work with developers and graphic artists to design and maintain web presence for the County.
Assist in website maintenance and ensure that the website’s brand value is maintained and improved.
Participate in all web application development to ensure the County and department brands are consistent.
Work on solidifying department brands through the use of presentations, developments, signage, etc.
Work closely with department directors or designees in order to discuss issues related to the betterment of their webpages’ user experiences, target audiences, and to educate on the presentation of information on websites.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Ability to use small office equipment, computers, and highly technical computer applications.
Knowledge of various programming languages and technologies (PHP, HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, and SQL); web development and graphic design skills; communication and interpersonal skills.
Skilled in web and graphic design; multimedia content development; general computer/web programming; communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
