This news is music to our ears. Next week, the Asheville Symphony Orchestra kicks off Opening Week for its 2022-2023 season with two concerts, andwe have all the deets:
🎶 ALT ASO When: Tues., Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. Where: Hi-Wire Brewing RAD Beer Garden, 284 Lyman St. Tickets:$45
Enjoy an ice-cold beer while listening to live music from ALT ASO, the Symphony’s ultra-popular mobile orchestra series. The performance will feature a hybrid New Orleans jazz + Balkan brass band playing repertoire including Bourbon St. Parade, When the Saints Go Marching In + more.
McGill is the New York Philharmonic’s first African-American principal, and has performed alongside musical icon Yo-Yo Ma at former President Obama’s first inauguration.

Masterworks 1 celebrates the spirit of virtuosity. New York Philharmonic principal clarinet Anthony McGill will perform Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto. The program also includes worksby Montgomery + Brahms.

The Wilma Dykeman Legacy and West Asheville Library will honor the resilience and hope of WNC authors through four author talks + four book discussions that will take place from Thurs., Sept. 8 through Wed., Dec. 14. The annual West Asheville Garden Stroll takes place Sat., Sept. 10 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. This year’s 14 garden tour will link together the historic Burton Street and Brucemont-Dorchester neighborhoods. Pick up a map at Trinity Methodist Church (587 Haywood Rd.) anytime between 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. to join this free community event.

Wet Nose Wednesdays have returned to Asheville Brewing Company’s downtown location (77 Coxe Ave.). Every Wednesday from 3-7 p.m., any visiting dog will receive a free tennis ball from the brewery. 🎾

Mark your calendars, animal lovers. On Thurs., Sept. 22 from 5-7 p.m., you can bring your four-legged friends to a rooftop party benefiting the Asheville Humane Society.
Taking place on the top of the Pack Square Parking Garage (26 Biltmore Ave.), the event will feature live bluegrass music with Knob Creek Incident, numerous local breweries with beer tastings, complimentary pet portraits from Joseph Dix Photography, caricature art, canine massages courtesy of RU Social Spa, and popsicles for both people + dogs.
