These nine farmers markets will stay open this winter

Winter is coming—and this year nine area farmers markets will offer extended seasons, remaining open throughout the chilly times.
In addition to seasonal produce and products, the markets will feature local artists and handmade goods including jewelry, pottery, and holiday decor.
Asheville City Market, 52 N. Market St.
Through Dec. 17, this downtown market will be open on Saturdays, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Starting Saturday, Jan. 10, hours will be 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
North Asheville Tailgate Market, 3300 University Heights Dr.
This market on the campus of UNC Asheville will run on Saturdays through Nov. 19, 8 a.m.–noon. It will also offer a special holiday bazaar Nov. 26–Dec. 17, 10 a.m.–1 p.m. After a pause in mid-December and January, the market will reopen in February.
River Arts District Farmers Market, 350 Riverside Dr.
This market will keep its regular hours, Wednesdays from 3-5:30 p.m., all winter long.
Five other Asheville farmers markets, including the Enka-Candler Market and West Asheville Tailgate, will also extend their hours this winter. See the full schedule.

Harvest Pizzeria Asheville (39 Banks Ave.) has announced it’s closing its door permanently. In a social media post, the Ohio-based chain noted “an inability to reach a reasonable rent structure with the landlord” as a contributing factor. 🍕
Traffic
Construction to repair multiple beams on the Montford Avenue bridge passing over I-240 will begin tonight. Expect road closures on I-240 and Montford primarily between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. During construction, all lanes of Montford Avenue will be closed.Get detour info. 🚧 (Asheville Citizen-Times)
