Asheville City Market | Saturdays, year-round | 9 a.m.-12 p.m. (April through December); 10 a.m.-1 p.m. (January through March)

It’s Zelda Fitzgerald Week

Asheville has celebrated Zelda Fitzgerald Day since 2016.

The renowned author, artist, and ballet dancer spent the last decade of her life in our city before meeting an untimely death at the hands of a Highlands Hospital fire.

In honor of her legacy, Aurora Studio and Gallery puts on a week of free public events from Thursday, March 9-Sunday, March 12. Here are the highlights:

Recovering Zelda | Thursday, March 9 | 6 p.m. | East Asheville Library, 3 Avon Rd. | Dr. Lisa Nanney will explore Fitzgerald’s paintings, in the context of her novel “Save Me the Waltz.”

Zelda’s Bed | Friday, March 10 | 6 p.m. | West Asheville Library, 942 Haywood Rd. | St. Paul author Danny Klecko premieres his Fitzgerald-focused book “Zelda’s Bed.”
