Here’s what you can expect this summer in The Land of the Sky and beyond, based on predictions from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center.

🌡️ Temperature

Think warm. Expect to see warmer-than-normal temperatures across much of the US, with the exception of the Midwest.

The predicted continuation of La Niña conditions plays a large role in the expected hotter-than-average June-August for the US.

In Asheville, temperatures are expected to be an average of 72.3ºF through at least July. There’s a 58% chance for clear or partly cloudy skies. Usually, Asheville averages highs of 79°F in June, 81.5°F in July, and 80.9° in August.

🌨️ Precipitation

Keep your umbrella nearby. There’s an equal chance that rain will trend normally through July. Usually, Asheville averages 3.9 inches of rain in June, 4.2 inches in July, and 4.3 in August.

🌀 Hurricanes

The Atlantic hurricane season began Wed., June 1, and it’s predicted to be a season with slightly above-average activity.

⌛ Drought

The chances of a drought developing is not likely through July 31.
