There’s a reason Asheville is known as Beer City. In the Asheville metro area, our beer scene is worth $935 million — and supports over 3,400 jobs. This makes keeping up with the ~55 local breweries quite the endeavor. But don’t worry, we’ve got your back, beer fans.

We put together a comprehensive guide to breweries and cideries in Asheville. And to make the brewery crawlin’ as easy as possible, we’ve mapped out these taverns into their respective sections of town.

Downtown

Asheville Brewing Co., 77 Coxe Ave.

This iconic brewery has been in town since 1997 and now has taprooms in two locations. The South Slope production brewery offers a giant screen great for movies + sports screenings, along with a brewpub serving pizza and pub fare.

Bold Rock Cider, 39 N. Lexington Ave.

This 8,000 sqft cidery + taproom features a small-batch cider production system, scratch kitchen, and private event space.

Botanist & Barrel, 32 Broadway St.

Find 50+ offerings here, including a dozen drafts, 400+ guest natural wines, ciders, beers, and mead.

Burial Beer Co., 40 Collier Ave.

Open since 2013, this brewery and taproom, which has received awards for “America’s Best IPA” from Draft Magazine and "#1 Saison” from Paste Magazine, offers a permanent food truck and large outdoor area on South Slope.

DSSOLVR, 63 N. Lexington Ave.

This production brewery + taproom opened in 2018 and also offers wine, cider, mead, and non-alcoholic beverages.

Catawba Brewing Company, 32 Banks Ave.

The South Slope location has a pilot system, rotating food trucks, and venue space. Its original production brewery and taproom is located in Morganton and the brewery also has a large taproom in Charlotte.

Eurisko Beer Company, 255 Short Coxe Ave.

This production brewery and taproom offers West Coast IPAs, dry Belgian-style saisons, and traditional German styles... Keep your eyes out for its forthcoming downtown lounge space.

Ginger’s Revenge South Slope Lounge, 32 Banks Ave.

The downtown version of this iconic gluten-free ginger beer brewer includes a large wraparound bar, 18 taps, and a menu of mocktails and craft cocktails.

Green Man Brewery, 23-27 Buxton Ave.

In business since 1997, this standard of South Slope focuses on iconic English-style ales.

The magical mural outside of Hi-Wire’s South Slope location is hard to miss.

Hi-Wire Brewing,197 Hilliard Ave.

The South Slope taproom is the original location of this brewery, which now has three locations in Asheville and several others across the Southeast.

Highland Brewing, 56 Patton Ave.

This recently launched location of Asheville’s oldest brewery offers 18 taps, two bars + a merchandise stand in the S+W Market, the city’s first food hall.

Noble Cider Greenhouse, 49 Rankin Ave.

Enjoy cider and mead flights alongside elevated small plates.

One World Brewing, 10 Patton Ave.

Located in a hip underground space that’s hidden three flights below downtown, this taproom offers sours, ales, and a rotating hard seltzer. We recommend spending time with the Dutch Shuffleboard while you’re down there.

Thirsty Monk Brewery, 92 Patton Ave.

The downtown location is three stories tall + includes a Belgian beer bar, American beer bar, and a cocktail bar Top of the Monk.

Twin Leaf Brewery, 144 Coxe Ave.

Production facility and taproom with outside seating.

White Labs Kitchen and Tap, 172 S Charlotte St.

This local yeast provider has a taproom and restaurant onsite, with a mix of beer brewed in-house and in collaboration with regional breweries. Try the hard seltzer, available on tap, that’s customizable with housemade tinctures and syrups. The lemon-rose flower flavor is especially tasty.

Wedge Brewing, 1 Page Ave. in the Grove Arcade

The beloved brewery opened a third location in the historic Grove Arcade this spring

Wicked Weed Brewing Pub, 91 Biltmore Ave.

The number of awards this brewery has received from the Great American Beer Festival, World Beer Cup, and US Open Beer Championship speaks for itself. Its original brewpub, restaurant, and downstairs taproom specializes in West Coast-style hoppy beers, barrel aged sours, and open fermented Belgians.

Wicked Weed Funkatorium, 147 Coxe Ave.

This South Slope location is the East Coast’s first sour beer dedicated taproom, featuring over a dozen varieties on draft + an expansive menu of other varietals that can be brought up in the cellar

Urban Orchard, 24 Buxton Ave.

The South Slope tasting room offers a rotating selection of “semi-sweet” to “bone-dry” draft ciders that will redefine your understanding of the beverage.

West Asheville

All Sevens Brewhouse, 777 Haywood Rd.

A five-barrel brewhouse that opened in 2018 as an expansion of West Asheville’s iconic Westville Pub. Also offers classic pub food.

Archetype Brewing, 265 Haywood Rd.

Enjoy a beer in the large open-format taproom while watching the brewers at work in the brewery’s 10-barrel brewhouse. There’s also Pizza Mind next door.

Cellarest Beer Project, 395 Haywood Rd.

Open since May 2021, this brewery and taproom features farmhouse-inspired ales and lagers, many which are barrel-aged.

Noble Cider, 356 New Leicester Hwy.

Play board games and nosh on small plates from local company Red Fiddle Vittles at this cidery’s original taproom and production location.

One World Brewing, 520 Haywood Rd.

This brewery’s second location has been open since 2018 and offers a spacious outdoor area perfect for open mics + concerts. Also, the giant spaceship installation is pretty sick.

Oyster House Brewing Company, 625 Haywood Rd.

This small batch production facility and full restaurant has served West Asheville since 2009

Urban Orchard, 210 Haywood Rd.

This West Asheville location has an outdoor patio with a rotating selection of “semi-sweet” to “bone-dry” draft ciders that will redefine your understanding of the beverage.

Wicked Weed West, 145 Jacob Holm Way, Candler

Enjoy the fruits of this 50 barrel production brewery while beating downtown crowds at this taproom and food truck site.

River Arts District

Hi-Wire Brewing, 284 Lyman St.

This epic outdoor beer garden is constructed from upcycled shipping containers.

New Belgium Brewing Company, 21 Craven St.

This Colorado-founded brewery has a gorgeous taproom + large outdoor space with lovely views of the French Broad River. There’s also a fun rotation of food trucks. Fun fact? Its Fat Tire Amber Ale was America’s first certified carbon neutral beer.

Wedge Brewing Company, 37 Paynes Way and 5 Foundy St.

Both locations have production facilities, taprooms, outside seating, and a rotating selection of local food trucks.

Biltmore Village, South Asheville, and beyond

7 Clans, 66 Sweeten Creek Rd.

Asheville’s first Indigenous-owned brewery. Its flagship beers include the Blonde Ale, Hop-Rooted IPA, and Bended Tree Chestnut Brown.

12 Bones South Brewery, 2350 Hendersonville Rd.

The iconic BBQ spot launched in 2005, and added a brewery and taproom in 2018.

Barn Door Ciderworks, 23 Lytle Rd., Fletcher

Barrel-aged, dry cider at its finest.

Blue Ghost Brewing Company, 125 Underwood Rd., Fletcher

From Sunday Jams to annual events like the Picklepalooza to a fun rotation of food trucks, there’s plenty to eat and see at this inventive brewery.

Bold Rock Cider, 72 School House Rd., Mills River

Savor this cidery’s classic crushed apple flavors, including rosé and IPA-style ciders.

Burial Beer’s Forestry Camp, 10 Shady Oak Dr.

The former location of The Forestry Compound is now home to Forestry Camp, which offers two different experiences under one roof. The first floor features a bar offering coffee, beer, wine, cocktails + bar snacks, while the second floor is a reservation-only, full-service dining room. There is also a large outdoor area and roof deck.

Burning Blush Brewery, 4891 Boylston Hwy., Mills River

Enjoy traditional beers that tread toward the experimental at this Mills River space, which boasts a climate-controlled indoor area and a spacious, outdoor biergarten.

Catawba Brewing Company, 63 Brook St.

Located in Biltmore Village, this cozy taproom offers Catawba classics like the White Zombie White Ale and the Peanut Butter Jelly Time raspberry brown ale (don’t knock it ‘til you’ve tried it).

Fahrenheit Pizza & Brewhouse, 17 Lee St.

This pizzeria and small batch brewer offers a “pour your own beer” system, so you can taste them all.

French Broad River Brewery, 101 Fairview Rd.

This taproom features local hits like the 13 Rivers ESB and Gateway Kolsch — and also hosts regular live music.

Hillman Beer, 25 Sweeten Creek Rd.

This brewery and taproom has an on-site restaurant and outdoor space. Pro tip: Order the award-winning Hillman ESB and a few of the soft pretzels.

Hi-Wire Brewing, 2A Huntsman Pl.

The Biltmore Village location of this brewery, which now has three locations in Asheville and eight across the Southeast, has Foothills Meats as a permanent food truck.

Mills River Brewery, 336 Banner Farm Rd

This new 8,600 sq ft brewing facility and taproom specializes in IPAs.

Sierra Nevada, 100 Sierra Nevada Way

This enormous facility, which has been called an “adult Disneyland for beers,” offers both indoor + outdoor seating in addition to gardens, beer trucks, an outdoor bar, tents, fire pits, and a small amphitheater.

Sweeten Creek Brewing, 1127 Sweeten Creek Rd.

This brewery, taproom, and sandwich shop has a large outdoor space that includes a dog park.

Thirsty Monk Brewery, 2 Town Square Blvd.

The Biltmore Park location offers plenty of parking + a full kitchen.

East Asheville

Cursus Keme, 135 Thompson St.

This hidden old-world style brewery and beer garden was launched in 2018.

Highland Brewing Company, 12 Old Charlotte Hwy.

Asheville’s oldest brewery was founded by Oscar Wong in 1994. While all its suds are beloved, its famous winter ale Cold Mountain has a cult following.

New Origin Brewing, 131 Thompson St.

This spot, which focuses on new school + experimental beers, features 12 rotating beers on tap.

Turgua Brewing, 3131 Cane Creek Rd., Fairview

This brewery is passionate about culinary exploration, cultural discovery, sustainable organic farming, and wild natural environments.

Whistle Hop Brewing, 1288 Charlotte Hwy.

Named NC’s Top Brewery in 2022 by Yelp.

North Asheville, Weaverville, and Woodfin

Asheville Brewing Co., 675 Merrimon Ave.

This iconic brewery’s original taproom — which opened its doors back in 1997 —has a pizzeria and a first-run movie theater.

Archetype, 174 Broadway St.

This cozy space features leather couches, exposed brick, and a marble bar — plus all the beers you know and love from its West Asheville locale.

Eluvium Brewing, 11 Florida Ave., Weaverville

Most of the beers produced here range from 4-5% ABV, making them both flavorful and accessible.

Ginger’s Revenge Craft Brewery, 829 Riverside Dr.

This taproom and brewery produces gluten-free ginger beers and regularly features guest beer taps from local breweries.

Leveller, 25 N. Main St., Weaverville.

Find this small craft brewery in quaint downtown Weaverville, featuring no-till beers, sours, and other European-style brews.

Outsider Brewing Co., 939 Riverside Dr.

This local gem is perched alongside the French Broad River and offers visitors the opportunity to watch the full brewing process transpire. It also has plenty of fun food trucks + community events, such as pop-up dinners, live DJ sets, and tastings.

Riverside Rhapsody, 995 Riverside Dr.

This small craft brewery specializes in IPAs and Belgian-style ales.

Rye Knot, 868 Merrimon Ave.

This neighborhood pub, brewery, and distillery has abundant outdoor seating and offers around a dozen rotating draft beers, as well as small-batch whiskey, gin, rum, and vodka.

Zebulon Artisan Ales, 8 Merchants Alley, Weaverville

Sample French + Belgian-style farmhouse ales and other historic recipes at this quaint Weaverville spot.

Zillicoah, 870 Riverside Dr.

Enjoy plenty of outdoor and riverside seating at this local brewery, which specializes in open-fermented farmhouse ales and lagers and offers eats from the Taqueria Munoz food truck.
