Every Noise at Once is Spotify’s algorithmically generated scatter plot of music genres, from “German dark minimal techno” to “neo-trad doom metal” to “classical saxophone quartet,” and literally everything in between.

Here’s how Every Noise sorts some of our favorite local artists, plus national acts from the same genre — perfect for a nice long trail walk.

We’ve got 3 more great gas station eats ⛽

Asheville’s best gas station eats

Appalachian Chick

Y’all are truly an incredible community. Case in point? Within days of publishing our guide to great gas station eats, we received three more star recommendations, which we’re sharing below. Bon appetit.

Appalachian Chick, 195 Charlotte Hwy.

This Veteran-owned express deli is tucked away in Fairview’s Kounty Line Shell Station. It serves unfussy, well-executed, Southern-leaning breakfast and lunch specials, like biscuits and gravy, fried bologna sandwiches, and the livermush biscuit.

The Local Joint, 1185B Charlotte Hwy.

Fairview is full of hidden gems, and biscuits at this combination gas station-breakfast joint are a prime example. Locals love the fluffy omelettes and The Big Bear, a Cajun fried chicken biscuit with all the fixins’.

Red Star Kitchen, 1397 Charlotte Hwy.

One more round of applause for Fairview, which is also home to Red Star Kitchen. Housed in a Citgo station, this deli doles out Cuban, Italian, and Reuben sandwiches for under $10, along with a fresh array of soups + salads.
