To help you out, we’ve created a gift guide featuring items from our online store, Six & Main, as well as products we love from other popular brands.

Moms are important to us all year, but Mother’s Day is when we can really show how special they truly are to us. From presents for the food and beverage fan to the art collector, let this gift guide lead you to the perfect present.

🐈 New city zonings for — cat cafés?

Three cat cafes are coming to Asheville

Yes, that headline is for real. Asheville City Council recently voted on which city areas are permitted to have cat cafés, and if you’re a cat person, you’ll probably like the new guidance.

Previously allowed only downtown, cat café businesses can now be opened in any district zoned for eating and drinking establishments. The vote comes after a business owner’s request to open one in West Asheville.

While we wait to see which new coffee-plus-kitty experiences will come to life across our city, let us refresh your memory on two we know are coming soon:

Cats at Play Café

Taking up residence downtown at 12 Eagle St., the business works with local animal rescue groups (including Brother Wolf Animal Shelter) to serve as a foster home for adoptable cats. Expect coffee, tea, beer + wine alongside locally made baked goods, plus a cat-themed boutique space. Stay tuned for its grand opening date, promised for this spring.

Tuesday, we reported on the return of Movies in the Park. Which flick in the lineup are you most excited to see? I gotta go DC League of Super-Pets (it’s kind of a tearjerker, but don’t tell anyone I said that).
