Coming fresh off Memorial Day weekend, it’s official — swimming season is upon us. We’ve rounded up a list of Asheville’s public and membership based pools to help you keep it cool all season long. Let’s dive in.

Public pools

Buncombe County’s public pools are currently open on weekends only. Starting Saturday, June 10, pools will be open seven days a week.

Cane Creek Pool | 590 Lower Brush Creek Rd., Fletcher | $3 | This outdoor pool is surrounded by the natural beauty of Cane Creek Park.

Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Community Center Pool | 285 Livingston St., Asheville | $3 | The county’s newest public pool is expected to open in June or July of this summer.

Erwin Pool | 58 Lees Creek Rd. | $3 | This spacious outdoor pool has a reputation of being well-maintained and offers special adult swim hours.

Hominy Valley Pool | 25 Twin Lakes Rd., Candler | $3 | We recommend stopping by Sand Hill Kitchen for an award-winning fried chicken sandwich for the perfect post-swim meal.

North Buncombe Pool | 734 Clarks Chapel Rd., Weaverville | $3 | Stay in the shallow end or take a dive into the 10-feet deep end of the pool.

Owen Pool | 117 Stone Dr., Swannanoa | $3 | Bring snacks and drinks to kick it poolside for a relaxing day.

Membership or day pass pools

Aloft Asheville | Seasonal, daily | 51 Biltmore Ave. | $15 per day | Have a glamorous day at this rooftop hotel pool + purchase drinks from the bar.

Asheville Racquet Club | Daily | 200 Racquet Club Rd. + 27 Resort Dr. | Monthly membership fees not public | Both locations offer indoor and outdoor pools, and the downtown spot also features a jacuzzi + outdoor pool cabana.

Patton Park and Pool | Seasonal, daily | 114 E Clairmont Dr., Hendersonville | $5 per day | This outdoor, Olympic-sized YMCA pool opens Friday, June 2 and also offers swim lessons.

  • Judgement of Paris Wine Tasting & Pairing | Tuesday, May 30 | 7-8:30 p.m. | The Aventine, 25 Page Ave., Asheville | $38 | This blind tasting, modeled after the famed 1976 “Judgement of Paris” tasting, will feature 6-8 wines, cheese, and light appetizers.

  • An Evening for Kids Deserve Justice | Wednesday, May 31 | 4:30 p.m. | Salvage Station, 468 Riverside Dr., Asheville | $30 | Come together for local food, drinks, music, and family fun at this mainly outdoor event for all ages — proceeds will support Pisgah Legal’s Children’s Law Program.
  • The Revolutionists | Wednesday, May 31-Saturday, June 3 | 7:30-9:30 p.m. | North Carolina Stage Company, 15 Stage Ln., Asheville | $10-$46 | Four badass women lose their heads in this irreverent, girl-powered comedy set during the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror.

  • Flying Squirrel Ten Miler | Saturday, June 3 | 8 a.m.-12 p.m. | Orange St., Asheville | $70 | Start downtown and run through winding mountain roads to benefit the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy — the registration deadline is May 31.
  • Summer Library Fest | Saturday, June 3 | 10 a.m.-12 p.m. | 3 Avon Rd., Asheville | Kick off the start of summer reading with Buncombe County Public Libraries at this family-friendly carnival.
