Small Business Saturday is coming up on Nov. 25. What started as an American Express campaign in 2010 to inspire consumers to shop locally has become an annual holiday that’s celebrated nationally.
We asked you to tell us which local small businesses you love shopping with + any deals you’re excited for, and (as usual) you didn’t disappoint. Plus, we included some of the local deals and shops we love.

Grace | C&Co. Handcrafted Skincare | In honor of the brand’s 11th anniversary, you can get 11% off organic, plant-based skincare in-store or online using the promo code sbs2023.
Grace | Orbit DVD | Help the shop celebrate its 20th anniversary with 20% off everything — stock up on video games, new + rare movies, unique books, games, and more.

Molly | Art Garden AVL | I have trouble keeping plants alive, but luckily Saturday will include 10% off everything — plants, art, crystals + more.
Molly | Hummingbird Candle Co. | I’ve got too many candles to count, but that won’t stop me from getting a few more (or a candle-making experience).
Molly | Ware | I’ll always shop home goods — especially when they’re refillable and sustainable.
You all love shopping small. Check out where else you said you’ll be shopping on Nov. 25.

Try This: Christmas at Biltmore® as an Annual Passholder
Presented by an AVLtoday Partner
‘Tis the season — to become a Biltmore Annual Passholder. | Photo by AVLtoday
Christmas is just around the corner. Dazzling lights and bedecked Fraser firs are making their appearances all over the city, and there’s cheer and chill in the air. But when it comes to this magical time of year, there’s one place that just stands out: Biltmore knows how to do this season just right.
What we tried:
The estate is decked out from top to bottom with enchanting decor and holiday spirit, so we were invited to see what Christmas at Biltmore is all about and experience the many reasons to become a Biltmore Annual Passholder — especially right now, while you can save $90 on new Annual Passes through Dec. 21.
In Biltmore House, nearly every room is festooned with thousands of ornaments on Christmas trees of all sizes, abundant garlands gracing the mantles, and (our favorite part) roaring fires each evening casting a cheery glow. Antler Hill Village & Winery is done up for the season, too, with glittering lights, festive displays, and award-winning wines.
Happy Thanksgiving. However you celebrate, we hope you enjoy a day of rest, reflection, and community. We here at AVLtoday are thankful for our city, and the fact that there’s always plenty to talk about.
Civic
At its Tuesday, Nov. 21 meeting, Buncombe County Commissioners declared the month of November as Native American Heritage Month. Find the full proclamation and learn more about the history of Native Americans in Buncombe County through the interactive story map website, “As Long As The Grass Shall Grow.”
Biz
Smoky Park Supper Club shared in a press release that at the end of the year, Executive Chef Michelle Bailey will leave, and General Manager Kristie Quinn will be retiring. Starting Dec. 31, the restaurant will take a break from service for maintenance and reorganization — more details will be announced soon.
Opening
Back in May of 2022, Finch Gourmet Market & Wine Bar opened in Biltmore Village — but after announcing new ownership this fall, the spot will reopen tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 24 as Finch Grocery, with foods, gifts, wine, and a patio. Stop by this weekend for free cookies and hot apple cider.
Shop
Knock out your holiday shopping (and have fun while doing it) at the Show & Tell Holiday Pop-Up Shop. More than 100 local makers, designers, and vendors will be selling goods in The Ideation Lab inside the Center for Craft starting tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 24, and running through Sunday, Dec. 24.
Seasonal
Head to Wedge Studios tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 24 through Saturday, Nov. 25 to get your house spruced up for the holidays. Its Christmas Tree Pop-Up will feature Fraser Firs from Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm, hand-blown ornaments from local artists, hot cocoa, and of course, local brews.
