New vegan donuts are rolling into town. The folks from Tahini Jar food truck are launching New Moon Donuts, a new food truck offering plant-based cake donuts and coffee from Methodical Coffee. Get the first taste this Sunday, March 24 at the grand reopening of Sabbath Day Woods’ gallery in Canton.

Danny Reed, owner of Hot Stuff Tattoo, is opening a small second location down the street from the original shop (416 Haywood Rd.). The new location will be open by appointment only, but operations at the original Hot Stuff Tattoo location will stay the same, offering walk-ins daily.
Announced
White Horse Black Mountain is temporarily closed as it undergoes renovations, including plans for a new roof and bar, ADA accessibility improvements, 60% increased seating capacity, and expanded sound and lighting design. In the meantime, the Black Mountain-based music venue will still host shows at other venues.
Edu
Asheville High School is getting a $13.1 million makeover with funding from the School Capital Fund Commission. The school will see renovations to the auditorium and gym, restrooms and plumbing infrastructure in the main building, and HVAC piping in the arts building. These renovations come in addition to a brand new track, finished last fall.

Chef Terri Terrell, Chef Cheyenne Cristina of Leo’s Italian Social, Chef Paul Taylor of Jargon, and Chef Santiago Vargas of Mikasa Criolla will compete in the NC Restaurant & Lodging Association (NCRLA) Chef of the Year contest as part of the NCRLA’s eighth Chef Showdown. Dreaming about summer, there’s plenty to look forward to: lazing in the sun, picnicking at your favorite river spot, and of course, AVLFest. From Thursday, Aug. 1 through Sunday, Aug. 4, the music festival will host hundreds of artists at venues across the city for its second year.
Curious to know who those artists will be? The first wave of the lineup drops today at 10 a.m., but we’re here to give you an exclusive first look at the musicians + bands who will have you dancing the weekend away.
The Asheville-based, genre-bending band Papadosio is first on the bill, followed by psychedelic-country group Beachwood Sparks. Town Mountain, Blitzen Trapper, SG Goodman, River Whyless, The Mother Hips, Susto, The Heavy Heavy, and more will also take the stage.
