A total solar eclipse — which happens when the moon completely blocks the face of the sun as it passes between the sun and earth — will take place one week from today on Monday, April 8. And while we’re not in the path of totality, Asheville is expected to see ~87% coverage.
The partial eclipse will begin at approximately 1:52 p.m., reach maximum coverage at 3:09 p.m., and end at about 4:26 p.m.

Can you name this hidden treasure? | Photo by @overasheville
We love a spot off the beaten path around our city. We’re sharing our favorite hidden gems for when you’re looking for some quintessential Asheville while flying under the radar.
Grove Arcade,1 Page Ave.
Grove Arcade has been many things over the years — a public market, the headquarters for the National Climatic Data Center, and now a visually distinctive collection of shops, restaurants, and apartments. Nearby: Asheville Pinball Museum
Biltmore Estate,1 Lodge St.
What is now America’s largest home, the 250-room French Renaissance mansion is about 4 acres and took almost six years to build. Nearby: Biltmore Village
I may not have seen a single episode of The Sopranos but I’ve challenged myself to watch all six seasons (ok, maybe not all of them) so I can celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary with DSSOLVR at the Gabba Fools party this Saturday, April 6.
