Terra Nova Beer Co. is set to open its flagship taproom on the South Slope. The space at 101 S. Lexington Ave., which will also welcome Mission Pizza, will serve up brand-new beers and craft cocktails developed with Golden Pineapple starting on Friday, May 17.
Development
Central Park, a new development in Arden, was unanimously approved by the Buncombe County Board of Adjustment during this Wednesday’s meeting. The project will replace the Brookwood Golf Club, which closed in 2008, and include 23 single-family homes, 185 townhomes, and a 20-acre conservation easement. (Asheville Citizen-Times)

Wine & Roses opened its gilded doors yesterday in the Zelda Dearest Hotel, with a menu and design inspired by the hotel’s literary namesake. As Zelda Fitzgerald would say, you won’t be bored or boring in the intimate space, surrounded by fresh roses. The bar will be open to the public on Friday and Saturday nights, 4-10 p.m.

Eight Ashevillians will be honored on Thursday, May 16 at the Rotary Club of Asheville’s inaugural Heroes Hoorah Gala. These “People of Action” were chosen for their efforts to improve the community, in areas like health, education, environmental advocacy, and economic development. Buncombe County announced it will be introducing gender-inclusive bathrooms in county buildings, beginning with libraries and the administrative building at 200 College St. The initiative, which will begin early this month, will introduce signage under existing restroom signs encouraging people to use the facility that aligns with their identity.
