Hatley Pointe — formerly known as Wolf Ridge Ski Resort — is ready to open. The boutique resort rebranded under new ownership last year, and now folks can start skiing this Saturday, Dec. 21. While you’re at it, check out more slopes to shred.

All lanes on the US 70 bridge connecting Asheville and Swannanoa are now open. NCDOT crews worked for nearly three months to rehabilitate the substructure, build a reinforced retaining wall, and pave the road.

Sweet news. French Broad Chocolate’s factory location on Riverside Drive is back open after sustaining flooding damage from Helene. Visit to snack on bonbons and sip on hot cocoa in the lounge — tours of the factory will resume on Thursday, Dec. 26.

Buncombe County Commissioners approved an amendment to accept more than $189,000 in disaster rental assistance funding from the NC Department of Health and Human Services. Funding will be distributed as a one-time payment to eligible residents at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
