Cause

Volunteers needed. Beloved Asheville is seeking skilled photographers and videographers to capture the hard work that is being done across WNC. If you are interested, shoot an email to Beloved Asheville.

Holiday

Buncombe County offices will be closed from Tuesday, Dec. 24 through Thursday, Dec. 26, and Wednesday, Jan. 1. During that time, certain services, including community care stations, debris removal, and FEMA’s Disaster Recovery Center, won’t be in operation or will have altered hours — see the full schedule.

If you’re seeking mental health support as we recover this holiday season, Buncombe County shared five resources and helplines people can access for free.

Mëhfil is making sure the community is fed this holiday season by passing out free meals on Monday, Dec. 23 at 11:45 a.m. The Indian restaurant will be dishing out options like chicken tikka masala, vegan saag tofu, and naan.

$15 million. That’s how much The Duke Endowment has allocated for Hurricane Helene relief across North Carolina + South Carolina. Reports show that most of these funds have gone to the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina’s Emergency and Disaster Response Fund and the Central Carolina Community Foundation. (WLOS)

Krispy Kreme — located at 960 Patton Ave. — is aiming for a 2025 reopening, according to a new report. Previously, it was unclear what would happen to the then-closed donut shop, as the building was posted for sale in fall 2023. (Asheville Citizen-Times)
