On Saturday, Jan. 25, the Swannanoa Public Library will reopen. Along with its reopening Buncombe County announced a modified schedule for its less-trafficked libraries. Due to storm-related budgetary impacts, these locations will be closed an additional one to two days per week.

After being closed since Helene, Vortex Doughnuts will reopen on Banks Avenue next month under new ownership. Drop a comment on the shop’s Instagram post to let it know what you’d like to see at “Vortex 2.0.”

At tomorrow’s Jan. 14 meeting, Asheville City Council will discuss updates to its flood protection ordinance, some of which would ensure compliance with the National Flood Insurance Program. See where you can watch the meeting and how to submit public comments. (Asheville Citizen-Times)
