We’re working for the weekend, because that’s when we like to brunch.
Don’t get us wrong, Asheville has brunch options every day of the week. But if brunch is a weekend must-do, these are some of our favorite spots for a Saturday or Sunday morning meal.
Note: All times listed are brunch-only.
Weekend musts
Chestnut | Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Get your table (or yourself) a large mimosa carafe before you choose from delicious dishes like shrimp and grits, Golden Malted Waffle, or Benedict Du Jour.
Tall John’s | Sunday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Choosing between steak and eggs and a goat cheese omelet for your main dish is tough — but deviled eggs to start are a no-brainer.
Fork Lore | Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Build your own omelet, dine on different Bennies, or check out burgers and sandwiches on the special brunch menu.
The Exchange | Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
This mountain-to-table restaurant embraces local flavors in its brunch dishes. We’re craving the Loaded Hashbrowns or Exchange Burger.
W.A.L.K. | Sunday, 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
Avocado toast, breakfast tacos, and French toast are on the menu at this West Asheville spot — but we’ve really got our eye on the Turkey Avocado Benedict.
Game Night | 6-10 p.m. | TRVE Brewing Co. | Free | Bring your board games and friends, sip on local drinks, and enter a monthly raffle from Gamer’s Haunt.
The Dirty Nil | 7 p.m. | The Grey Eagle | $21 | Rock out with the Canadian band and openers Grumpster and House & Home.
New Moon Circle | 7-9 p.m. | West Asheville Yoga | $35 | Sierra Hollister facilitates this class to use the new moon to realign awareness and wisdom.
Slice Standup Comedy Pageant | 7-9:30 p.m. | Pulp | $15 | Winners of previous stand-up contests will vie for the comedy crown, and it’s up to you to decide the winner.
Thursday, Jan. 30
Joe Gatto | 7 p.m. | Harrahs Cherokee Center: Asheville | $50+ | The “Impractical Jokers” star performs his “Let’s Get Into It” show.
The Blinds | 8 p.m. | One World Brewing: Downtown | Free | Listen to the local indie soul band that draws inspiration from Stereolab, The Eagles, and Chaka Khan.

Asheville City Schools (ACS) stated it will remained committed to the safety and well-being of all students, regardless of immigration status. ACS released a letter to the community following concerns from immigration policy changes, but the district has not received updated guidance from the North Carolina School Board. After the damage caused by Hurricane Helene, Asheville Parks & Recreation (APR) assessed that only one public pool is safe to reopen this summer: the Grant Southside Center Pool. This pool will have longer hours this season, but APR is seeking other options, including a potential new pool at Malvern Hills Park.
Opening
Consider this a blessing; Hail Mary is getting ready to open tomorrow, Jan. 29. The West Asheville restaurant will offer a menu with shareable snacks, sandwiches, and cocktails (or mocktails). It will open in the former location of Tastee Diner and is operated by former Tastee employees.
Plan Ahead
Get ready busy bees, the Great Buzz Gathering is returning for its sixth year, focusing on the importance and conservation of the stinging insect. Bee City USA will host the free event at The Mule at Devil’s Foot Beverage on Saturday, Feb. 15, 12-3 p.m.

A trendy tie-front blouse that’s perfect for your next date night. Psst — we’re loving the pink stripe for Valentine’s Day.
I definitely appreciate the warmer temperatures, but Asheville made the most of the snowy weather we had a couple of weeks ago. I’d like to thank the AVLtoday readers who sent in photos of their snowmen — we shared some of our favorites on Instagram and they did not disappoint.
