Award-winning pianist joins Asheville Symphony next week 🎹

We’re keyed in for acclaimed pianist Martina Filjak’s “mini-residency” with the Asheville Symphony, headlined by Masterworks 4: Ciao Italia on Saturday, Feb. 15.

She’ll perform Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2 alongside Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony & more.

You can also catch Filjak in a solo performance: She will take the stage for a Solo Piano Recital on Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Pairing Baroque works with passionate Romantic compositions, this recital will create a rich journey through two musical epochs, featuring Liszt, Schumann, Bach, & more.

What does Asheville need to recover from Hurricane Helene? That’s what city leaders are looking to learn during six public meetings about the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery program. The first meeting will be held on Monday, Feb. 10, 3-4:30 p.m. online. (WLOS)

A new 40-foot-long prayer wall is now open to the public at Unity of the Blue Ridge. Constructed by local mason Jill Haynie, the wall offers a space for prayer and reflection. It is part of the property’s Pathway of Peace, offering 10 acres of green space + a labyrinth. (Mountain Xpress)

The North Fork Fire in McDowell County is 65% contained, according to the National Forest Service. The wildfire east of Highway 221 remains ~644 acres. (WSPA)
