Since Helene ravaged the River Arts District, artists Denise Markbriet and Anna Bryant have been working hard to resurrect the Asheville Print Studio. This weekend marks the official beginning of the studio’s next chapter with a new name, location, and meaning as Print House opens at 29 Carolina Ln. in downtown Asheville.
Markbriet founded Asheville Print Studio in 2017 and met Bryant a couple of years later when Bryant would use the press at Asheville Print Studio for her own work. Just before the storm, Markbreit asked Bryant to join the studio as a partner — but Helene hindered their plans for a smooth transition, rendering the Riverview Station studio a total loss.
The education hub will also invite teaching artists to offer their insights.

After seven months of recovering, planning, adapting, and moving, Print House is ready for action. The reimagined space lets visitors step inside the duo’s printmaking studio, observing the creativity in action and on the walls of the gallery.
The second floor houses the education hub, offering workshops and classes catering to anyone from beginner printmakers to seasoned artists.

Viral food critic Keith Lee is coming to AVL

In a recent TikTok, viral restaurant critic Keith Lee announced he’s coming to the Carolinas, including Asheville. Lee and his family have traveled the country in search of the best food around, especially from Black-owned and family-operated restaurants, and his videos garner millions of views from his 17 million followers. Now, it’s our turn.
After a positive review from Lee, local restaurants report a “Keith Lee effect,” including massive lines around the block and business doubling. Lee already made a stop in Clayton, NC for a bite of Hibachi Papi, and after earning top marks from Lee, the spot reported having a huge line. He also gave plenty of praise to Columbia, SC’s Chef Bernard Hardison for his fried chicken.
Lee frequents hyper-local restaurants that are a bit off the beaten path and deserve more spotlight, and we already know he’d love local spots like Root Down + the Cooking With Comedy food truck.

What Asheville restaurants should Keith Lee visit?
I know it’s only Tuesday morning, but it’s never too early to start planning for the weekend. Especially when it’s packed with concerts (Kishi Bashi at Grey Eagle is my pick), Asheville City Soccer Club’s women’s home opener, beer prom, and a speakeasy cocktail class. Better check out the events calendar.
