A doggone good time
Patton Avenue Pet Co.'s annual WestVILLEminster Dog Show returns this Saturday, June 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. at One World Brewing’s West Asheville location.
Think your pup stands out from the pack? For $15, you can register them to compete in categories like Best Underbite, Best Wrinkles, and Best Costume — entry is $10 if you just want to spectate. And best of all, proceeds benefit the life-saving work of the Asheville Humane Society.
The fun extends into the night, with local band Sheepdog taking the stage after the show.

UNC Asheville announced plans to develop the 45-acre urban forest bordered by Broadway Street and W.T. Weaver Boulevard for its Millennial Campus. Mountain Housing Opportunities received a $1 million grant from the Truist Foundation WNC Recovery and Resiliency Fund to support long-term disaster recovery. The money will be used to construct new homes in Black Mountain, complete storm-related repairs, and rehabilitate the nonprofit’s affordable mixed-use properties in the RAD.
