Our Global Table will take you on a flavorful journey for good. | Photo by Jennifer Bennett

I know it’s only Monday, but it’s time to start gearing up for a jam-packed weekend. Let me take the planning off your plate and propose a chock-full itinerary for this Saturday, Sept. 13.

Spend the early afternoon in the River Arts District for RAD Resilience. The art event is rooted in healing and strength, with many artists showcasing pieces created in response to the storm — expect live music, food trucks, artist talks, and a large-scale interactive project.

At 3 p.m., head to Cooperative Coffee for Our Global Table, a delicious fundraiser for Pisgah Legal Services’ Justice for All program. Your $35 ticket gets you international eats from Gypsy Queen, J Chong Eats, Luis Martinez, Master BBQ, Short Street Cakes, and more.

By sundown, dance to DJ sets at Nightshade’s grand opening party. The new South Slope social lounge specializes in zero-proof cocktails.

Of course, if this isn’t your style, our events calendar is sure to have something for you.

🐕 A tail of new beginnings

Brother Wolf reunited Dolly Rose with her owner. | Photo via Brother Wolf Animal Rescue
450+. That’s how many animals Brother Wolf has placed into loving homes this year so far. The rescue has also helped 350+ families support their pets through the Stay Together program and facilitated the care of 500+ animals through foster homes.

Providing that care is no easy feat, especially since the shelter hasn’t been operating in a facility of its own since Helene. Brother Wolf recently provided an update, sharing that they’ve been working with architects and engineers to create a brand new shelter, with more info coming soon.

If you’re interested in adding a whiskered roommate to the mix, explore the rescue’s adoptable animals, like Mammoth the not-so-ferocious guinea pig, the ever-so-sassy Meowly Cyrus, and Molly the snuggly mixed breed pup.

If a new animal isn’t in the cards for you, you can always offer up your time, heart, and hands to help the animals. Click the button below to find volunteer opportunities at local shelters.
