Pillar Rooftop Bar has a spellbinding experience in store this season. The bar atop the Hilton Garden Inn downtown has transformed into Wizard’s Landing, a magical pop-up that even the muggles will enjoy.
There are plenty of mystical potions and enchanted elixirs to go around. If you’re into the sweet stuff, the draft ButterBeer cocktail is a must-order.
See the haunting happenings coinciding with the pop-up, like live music, Harry Potter Trivia, and the Twilight Wonders magic show. Come December, Wizard’s Landing will overlap with Rudolph’s Rooftop, the bar’s annual holiday pop-up.
But that’s not the only piece of the wizarding world that’s landed in WNC. Recess Coffee and Baked Goods in Black Mountain is bringing back its Harry Potter week Thursday, Oct. 31 through Monday, Nov. 3. Pick up themed pastries like the special Sorting Hat Cruffin to find out which house you belong in.
The former Musician’s Workshop on Merrimon Avenue will soon house offices for The Scheffer Group as well as the team’s new counter service restaurant, The 321 Corner. The restaurant group is behind Vinine’s Neighborhood Italian, Jettie Rae’s, and Gan Shan. (Asheville Watchdog)
Cause
The Pisgah Investments Foundation has invested $150,000 in helping Warren Wilson College students bring housing justice to WNC. The grant will expand the college’s tiny home initiative, launching a three-year, design-to-build program anchored in academic coursework. Learn about the student proposal that spearheaded the project.
Seasonal
Hauntville is headed to Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre this Halloween weekend. This year, the adults-only immersive haunted house’s theme is “13 Twisted Fairy Tails,” taking you behind, above, and below and stage and down a rabbit hole of horror. Grab tickets if you dare.
Festival
For nearly 30 years, LEAF Global Arts has connected people with music, arts, and culture, but facing major funding losses, LEAF shared that this month’s upcoming festival may be its last. To rally support and make the experience more accessible, tickets are 30% off — you can also buy at full price to extend extra support.
Environment
The town of Biltmore Forest passed a law prohibiting feeding wildlife after residents were reported to have been “actively feeding bears” — aka, exactly what not to do. Time to revisit the Bearwise Basics. (Asheville Citizen-Times)
Shop
There’s a new way to spot potheads (meaning East Fork Pottery fanatics, of course). The biz has released car air fresheners in the shape of its best selling mug.
