A piece of science history is up for sale

The Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute, commonly known as PARI, has been listed for sale at $30 million. The listing for the 192-acre property includes more than 30 buildings, a planetarium, and 25+ optical telescopes with options for a partial purchase or lease.

The historic Rosman space research station was originally developed by NASA in 1963 and was the site of scientific milestones, playing a vital role in the space race and even receiving one of the world’s first color photos of the full Earth from space. In 1998, PARI was established as a nonprofit.

PARI shared an announcement on its website, explaining that the campus will remain staffed and open for programming, and a potential sale wouldn’t affect its nonprofit status.

The announcement also details that a buyer would have to be approved by their board of directors and NC’s Attorney General. “We are confident that they have the preservation of PARI’s mission as their top priority,” the statement reads.

Just like MICHELIN Stars are awarded to exceptional restaurants, MICHELIN Keys highlight hotels that go above and beyond in design, service, and guest experience. For the second year in a row, Blind Tiger Asheville has earned the prestigious honor.

The renovated 19th-century Queen Anne–style house holds 14 rooms in the Chestnut Hills neighborhood of North Asheville. MICHELIN lauded the hotel’s eclectic style, mixing vintage and modern touches — there’s also a distinct personal touch, with each room including a letter from a local filled with recommendations.

The property is available for weddings and you can even grab a day pass to enjoy the amenities while working remotely.

Of course, you can book a room at Blind Tiger for the ultimate staycation, but if you want to get out of town for a stylish stay, there are plenty of MICHELIN Key hotels just a weekend trip away:
