Coming Soon
Rhubarb’s sign is going back up as the restaurant plans to “rebloom in 2026.” Chef and owner John Fleer closed the restaurant in early 2025, but former pastry chef Mallory Foster is leading the restaurant’s second act while maintaining its original farm-to-table ethos. Stay tuned to snag the first reservation.
Number
23,000 tons. That’s how much salt has been spread across NC roads since the weekend’s snowstorm. It’s about three times the weight of the Eiffel Tower in case you were wondering. City crews are clearing slush and salting roads, but stay vigilant — freezing overnight temps can make roads icy + treacherous. (WLOS)

Double the space + double the magic
Look forward to twice the space and twice the magic. | Photo via Gamer’s Haunt
Gamers’ Haunt is getting some new digs this spring. The destination for Magic: the Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, and more tabletop games is moving from Merrimon Avenue to a spot twice the size at the corner of Patton Avenue and North French Broad Avenue.
To spread some magic in the new space before its official opening, this Saturday, Feb. 7, Gamers’ Haunt is throwing an evening gala complete with games, finger foods, music, a silent auction, and door prizes. And that’s just the beginning.
Attendees can add notes to a community time capsule and leave their mark on the venue’s still-blank walls. Those looking for something more permanent can even “adopt” a table or chair at the new Gamers’ Haunt, with a commemorative plaque honoring themselves or a favorite gamer.
The Mall R.A.T.S. are prepping for another exhibition at the Asheville Mall this Sunday, Feb. 8, titled “What Remains.” The prompt is intentionally open, and anyone can bring their art and join the conversation. All you need to do is bring a short statement explaining your interpretation of the prompt. Get the deets.
