On Saturday, Feb. 28, the City of Asheville will present early design concepts for restoring the Helene-damaged Azalea and French Broad riverfront parks. After gathering feedback at the drop-in event and online, the hired design firms will head back to the drawing board and present final plans at the end of the year.

This Saturday, Feb. 14 at the NC Arboretum, Echoes of the Forest will unveil the latest “echo” by Mark Oliver of Foundation Woodworks — a bench titled “Tea for Two.” The nonprofit is dedicated to making artistic memorials from trees felled by Helene.

A-B Tech physics students will send an out-of-this-world experiment to the International Space Station this spring as one of 20 colleges nationwide to participate in the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program.
The study will test how lubricating oils behave in microgravity to help astronauts maintain spacecraft systems. To add to the hype, the community college is inviting middle, high school, and college students to design a badge that will adorn the experiment as it rides to the ISS.
