Watch

Set your alarms for the only lunar eclipse of the year, tomorrow, March 3. The show starts at around 3:44 a.m. and will last until about 6:23 a.m. You won’t need any special equipment to see the Blood Moon, but a coffee may be needed.

Announced

New parking fees are in effect at The NC Arboretum, increasing the price to $25 per vehicle. Membership rates remain unchanged. Bonus: You can still visit for free with a library ZOOM Pass, and get $10 entry on the first Tuesday of the month (psst... that’s tomorrow).

Number

$2 million. That’s the estimated amount of local direct spending the late-summer G20 Finance Track meetings could generate. The Treasury Department chose Asheville to welcome finance ministers and central bank governors from 19 countries and two international organizations. (Blue Ridge Public Radio)

History

March is Women’s History Month, a dedicated time to celebrate the achievements of women throughout US history. Honor the occasion by learning about four leading ladies in local history, from politicians to writers + musicians to teachers.

Outdoors

The Buncombe County Soil & Water Conservation District’s annual Bareroot Plant Sale puts down roots this Saturday, March 7 at 10 a.m. at Erwin High School. Find all sorts of native plants, from trees, shrubs, and grasses to native fruits. Bonus: Some will be discounted to support post-Helene streambank restoration.
