Burial Beer Co. is adding a RAD taproom to its repertoire and starting a new chapter in one of Asheville’s most storied creative spaces.
The team announced plans to revitalize Curve Studios, a 1916 building originally constructed by Standard Oil and long stewarded by artist Pattiy Torno.
“Reinvesting in the RAD’s flood plain is no easy matter. Doing it in a way that maintains its historical structures and creative backbone is even harder,” the team wrote on social media, outlining plans to remove impervious surfaces while preserving the site’s industrial character.
The brewery has taken on similar projects, restoring a former Civilian Conservation Corps site into a multi-building campus for its Forestry Camp location near Biltmore Village.
Burial says more details will be shared in the coming years as the project evolves.
Save the date. AVL Sounds Fest is on for Aug. 6-9, bringing live music to 15+ local venues — and starting Wednesday, April 15, locals can score discounted tickets. ICYMI, the fest is the evolution of AVLfest, rebranded as the founding partners forged independent creative paths.

Asheville City Council will consider eliminating parking minimums this summer alongside zoning changes that would allow larger accessory dwelling units and duplexes in all residential districts. The amendments are an interim step ahead of a full overhaul of the city’s 1997 Unified Development Ordinance, expected by 2028. (Asheville Citizen-Times)

About half a year after announcing its impending closure, Echo Mountain Recording Studios announced a surprise return to the historic North French Broad Avenue church. Now, the time has come to celebrate its grand reopening with studio tours, meet + greets, and good times on Sunday, April 19.

Sprucing up the house? Shop fresh rugs and runners that will brighten your home for spring:
🏡 These gorgeous area rugs aren’t just pretty to look at — they’re non-slip, thin enough to fit under doors, and low-pile so dust and dander won’t get trapped.
🚪 Treat the front porch to a 4.7-star rated striped or buffalo check doormat that’s easy to wipe down, vacuum, or throw in the wash.
🌼 Fill the whole room with a vintage floral rug that’s machine washable and complete with non-slip backing.
👟 Add a new look and extra safety to stairs with rubber backed stair treads — just place and go with no adhesive needed.
🛁 Your bath mat has seen a lot of feet — shop a fresh one that’s ultra-absorbent and non-slip for under $20.
I’m ecstatic to have Burial coming to my backyard in the RAD, and I’m raising a “One Of Us Will Have To Bury The Other” (my favorite beer of theirs) in celebration.
If you love the ever-so-dramatic beer names as much as I do, use the brewery’s amusing guide to name your own beer. Mine is “Adept Bleakness Engulfed in a Decaying Conviction.” I think it would be a stout.
