Commemorating Veterans Day 2022 in and around Asheville

From family events to equine therapy, here’s how to honor Veterans locally.

Veterans Day takes place Friday, Nov. 11, and we’re highlighting a a few area events to commemorate the brave people who have fought to protect our country.

  • The third annual Honor a Veteran event will be hosted by nonprofit Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry on Friday, Nov. 11 from 12-1 p.m. at four locations across Buncombe, Henderson, Haywood + Transylvania counties. The events will include a free catered lunch and a short recognition ceremony at each location.
  • Marshall-based nonprofit Heart of Horse Sense, will hold its Mane Event on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The event will include hands-on demonstrations, meet and greet with horses, children’s activities, and food.   • Enjoy free entry to any National Park Service site on Veterans Day, courtesy of The National Park Service.
  • The second annual car show at Equinox Ranch takes place Saturday, Nov. 12 from 11:15 a.m.-4:15 p.m. Folks can enjoy a variety of classic rides and community along the facility’s riverfront property in nearby Cullowhee.
