The first episode of Max’s new “Swiping America” series debuted with a foray into Asheville’s dating scene.

The show features four NYC singles — Ash, Regan, Kesun, and Kris — who travel across the country in search of love, swiping through local matches and going on dates across eight US cities.

Naturally, locals are divided on whether they love or hate the idea of Asheville’s dating scene becoming reality television. Nonetheless, we found it fascinating to see where these outsiders visited and which spots around town were deemed worthy of date night.

Where they went

Out of the four local dates featured in the show, here’s what we’d most like to try, ranked in order.

  1. A foraging excursion near Cloud 9 Farm, followed by dinner (with foraged goods) prepared at Table. | We’re a sucker for the forest-to-table lifestyle — and if the chefs at Table are preparing the meal, even better.
  2. A visit to Vaste Riviere Provisions for wine, followed by a soak in Hot Springs Resort And Spa‘s mineral water tubs. | Relaxing, romantic, and gourmet — this getaway is a winner in our books.
  3. Cocktails at The Montford Rooftop Bar. | The drinks, bar bites, and sunset views could certainly make us swoon.
  4. A quick meet and greet at The Whale in West Asheville. | This is a great spot for hanging with friends (or conducting an initial vibe check of your online date), but it’s pretty dang casual for a romantic outing.

Honorable mentions

While these spots weren’t technically date sites, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention The Horse Shoe Farm, which is where the cast members lived for several days. Also, the episode kicks things off with an ice bath ceremony led by local Wim Hof master Luke White. Oh, the things we do for love.
