A cheese, charcuterie, and wine shop is set to join the lineup at The S&W Market this March.
Gourmand , a venture from New Orleans transplants Katie Grabach and Peyton Barrell, will replace the Highland Brewing Co. kiosk on the first floor — don’t worry, though, you can still get your beer fix at the upstairs mezzanine.
While this will be the duo’s first brick-and-mortar, it’s certainly not their first rodeo. The business began in New Orleans in 2020 as a charcuterie company, later blossoming into a monthly supper club and speakeasy.
After falling in love with WNC, Grabach and Barrell decided to relocate and open their first permanent location in Asheville.
What to expect
In the daytime, Gourmand will serve a variety of imported, domestic, and housemade cheeses, charcuterie, and wines — plus a rotating menu of baguette sandwiches and salads. A few standout items include the jambon beurre, gravlax tartine, and housemade pâté.
At night, Gourmand will transition into a small wine bar, focusing on natural and European wines. Small plates will also be available.
