Enter our March Madness bracket tournament 🏀

NCAA tournement

In case you missed it, it’s March, meaning basketball is front-and-center until Baseball kicks-off next month (T-minus 31 days until the Tourists opening day )

In the name of friendly competition, we’re hosting our own NCAA March Madness bracket tournament with $100 on the line.

Last night, during the NCAA Selection Show, 36 basketball teams were chosen to compete in the Division 1 Men’s Basketball tournament deemed “March Madness”.

Our claim to fame? UNC Asheville’s Athletic Director, Janet Cone, was featured at the New York City event, as one of 10 NCAA committee members. They are responsible for selecting + bracketing the tournament and are expected to be experts on their own conferences.

As a former high school basketball player + as a UNC Asheville alumna, this is the month where my inner sports fanatic comes out. If you follow us on Instagram surely you’ve seen our Bulldog posts + baseline stories.

For the TB,DW (Too Boring, Didn’t Watch):

  • 36 teams were chosen to compete as “at-large” bids

  • 32 teams made it automatically by winning their conference tournament championship

That’s 68 total teams for those of you keeping count...

For the North Carolina natives: The usual’s are back, including Duke, UNC, NC State, Davidson, UNCG, and North Carolina Central.

And for those Bulldog fans, don’t worry, UNCAsheville may not have made it to the NCAA this year but they will compete in the 2018 NIT (National Invitation Tournament). Schedule here.
