For the fans of the gothic author Edgar Allan Poe (or the folks who love a themed outing), we’re sharing an event that has us raven.

The Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy pop-up is coming to The Venue, located at 21 N. Market St., from Thursday, Aug. 15 through Saturday, Aug. 17.

During the 90-minute experience, you’ll hear four stories — “The Tell-Tale Heart,” “The Raven,” “The Masque of Red Death,” and “The Black Cat” — retold and re-imagined by Poe historians, while you sip on four cocktails inspired by each of the tales.

Interested in seeing Poe’s works brought to life? Grab your tickets while you still can — prices range from $48 to $62, depending on date and time.

From the editor
I grew up going to Bele Chere with my family every summer. Growing up, I lived in Brevard, so coming to Asheville was always a treat because it felt like being in — what my adolescent mind considered — the big city. Three of my favorite Bele Chere memories are watching the Ultimate Air Dogs, browsing beads at Chevron Trading Post & Bead Co. (which I called the star shop), and begging my mom to take me to Tops For Shoes’ Penny Sale.
