Kids, this is the story of how I met your mother, and it was all thanks to AVLtoday.
Ok, so maybe that’s not exactly how the 2000s sitcom went, but if Ted Mosby had consulted us for date night ideas, we could’ve shaved the show down to two seasons (and saved his kids a lot of time). Regardless, whether you’ve already met “the one” or are hoping to impress someone new, we’ve got 20+ local date night ideas that are legen — wait for it — dary.

On the surface, AVLtoday editorial is a team of two — City Editors Molly and Grace are the faces you see on social media and at the end of every newsletter. But it’s actually a team of four. Because every newsletter is written and every post created with two canine assistants in tow. And it’s about time they got their moment in the proverbial spotlight.
Reginald and Maisie are going to em-bark on an adventure around Asheville, and we’d like you to plan their day out. Using our guide to dog-friendly places around the city, you can choose a spot under each category where Molly and Grace will take their furry friends.
Make your schedule selections at the button below, and we’ll share a recap of their romp on Monday, Aug. 26 (which is, uncoincidentally, National Dog Day).

I have fond childhood memories of both real life summer camp and summer-camp-based scary movies. And while I can’t say I have ever before had an inclination to actually combine the two experiences, The Whale might have changed my mind. This Saturday, Aug. 24, the West Asheville bar will transform into Camp Crystal Whale for a day of crafts and activities — and a night of slasher movie horror (just without the actual danger).
