In a social media post yesterday, Jan. 8, Asheville Pizza and Brewing announced that the live music venue it co-ran with The Orange Peel, Rabbit Rabbit, will rebrand as the Asheville Yards Amphitheater.
Asheville Yards Amphitheater promises a calendar with nearly double the live music events and more festivals and family-friendly activities. And come November of this year, you’ll also be able to lace up your skates and hit its on-site ice rink.
On the current schedule, you’ll find a May 10 performance with mandolinist and singer-songwriter Chris Thile and the Asheville Symphony. And tomorrow, Jan. 10 at 10 a.m., another show announcement will be made. Although the artist is yet to be revealed, the venue is looking at late April for its first show of the season.
Follow Asheville Yards on Instagram and sign up for its newsletter for more updates and announcements about the venue’s future plans.

$225 million for Helene recovery in Asheville
Funding was announced during a press conference at Mountain BizWorks. | Photo via City of Asheville
In visits to Old Fort and Asheville on Tuesday, Jan. 7, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Adrianne Todman announced $1.65 billion will go towards Helene recovery through two Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery awards.
Of the sum, $225,010,000 was awarded directly to the City of Asheville. In a press conference alongside Todman and Governor Josh Stein, Mayor Esther Manheimer said that the ~$225 million will address “critical, unmet recovery needs in infrastructure housing and economic revitalization.”
Asheville city staff will develop an action plan detailing initiatives the funding will support, with public comment taking place before plans are sent to HUD for approval. The plan will be submitted before summer this year.
