Eat

Have you tried Too Good to Go? The app created to combat food waste gives customers access to surplus foods from local restaurants or grocers at a discounted price. Here in Asheville, spots like The Rhu, Whole Foods, and Krispy Kreme participate on the app.

Number

$50,000. That’s one of the bonuses Instagram is offering creators of short-form videos. We’re not doing it for the cash — we just want to keep you informed. (The Verge)

Watch

$17.99. That’s how much Netflix’s standard plan will cost per month after adjusting prices again in the US, Canada, Portugal, and Argentina — up from $15.49. Pro tip: You can get a movie ticket (plus popcorn) at the Fine Arts Theatre for less. (The Verge)

For richer or pour over, Asheville’s coffee shops keep us going in the morning. Asheville may be known as Beer City, but we’ve also got an impressive coffee scene brewing.

If you’re having trouble deciding on a spot, these 35+ establishments will get your mind percolating.

Espresso yourself

Rowan Coffee, 66 Broadway St. | From expertly crafted pourovers to espresso-based mocktails, there’s something for every palate in this moody space. Psst... Rowan is also opening a second location on Haywood Road in the former Waterways location.

Best bites

Old Europe Pastries, 18 Broadway St. | This cafe has been serving Asheville since 1994, and its coffee is just as delicious as its sweets. We recommend pairing your drink with a croissant, macrons, or a slice of cheesecake — but there are no wrong choices.

On-the-go joe

Bad Manners Coffee, 697 Haywood Rd. Ste. G | Settle down at one of the little pink shop’s seats or take your coffee + treats to go around West Asheville.

Morning, Asheville. This weekend, I’m venturing out to my old stomping grounds in Boone and hitting the slopes up at Beech Mountain. If you’re looking to ski a little closer to home, check out the recently revived Hatley Pointe Resort.
