This Thursday, Sept. 25 from 3 to 6 p.m., the Stephens-Lee Community Center will transform into a plant lovers’ paradise. Bountiful Cities, The City of Asheville, Utopian Seed Project, and the Appalachian Growers Seed Collective are coming together for an epic seed and plant swap, connecting you with other gardeners, farmers, and green thumbs.
Beyond exploring seeds and plants available for swapping and purchasing, Bountiful Cities will host a tour of the George Washington Carver Edible Park, and Utopian Seed Project will show off a live seed cleaning demo.

This Saturday, Sept. 27, Old Europe is donating the entire day’s sales to BeLoved Asheville to continue to support recovery efforts throughout the region. The bakery hopes to raise $10,000 for the nonprofit — help them achieve their goal and treat yourself to something sweet in the process.
Outdoors
With a $750,000 grant from the Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority and a matching campaign from the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, the parkway’s Craggy Gardens facilities are getting an upgrade. Construction will begin next year to improve restrooms, wayfinding, and design of the visitor center and picnic area.
Announced
The Asheville Muni Disc Golf Course will be closed through Friday, Oct. 3 for the replacement of a storm-damaged natural gas line — the back nine of Muni will stay open for play. The temporary disc golf course opened in August, providing recreation while the golf course awaits full restoration.
Holiday
Sundown tonight marks the beginning of Rosh Hashanah. The celebration runs until sundown on Wednesday, Sept. 24. Jewish Family Services of WNC helps deliver holiday meals to older adults who may not otherwise be able to celebrate. Learn more about supporting the program.

Ginger’s Revenge and Chemist Spirits collaborated to create Herbal Revenge, a botanical liqueur distilled from ginger beer that was rescued from the brewery during the storm. Calling all Studio Ghibli fans. The historic animation house is currently celebrating 40 years of timeless storytelling with Studio Ghibli Fest, featuring movie theater screenings of its most famous films. “Howl’s Moving Castle” is playing through Wednesday, Sept. 24, and “Spirited Away” is screening next month.
