Happy almost Friday, Asheville.🙌 Audra here. In honor of Friday Jr., I am helping you make your weekend plans a little early with a round-up of my top picks for Asheville’s nightclubs. Being real here – I am in my early twenties and enjoy going out to dance to some upbeat music put on by local DJs in some of AVL’s coolest spots on the weekends.💃

First things first, what is a nightclub? It is an establishment for nighttime entertainment, typically serving drinks (sometimes food) and offering music, dancing, etc. A nightclub differs from a bar given the fact that bars are more laid back with a chill atmosphere, while nightclubs usually feature a stage/dance floor, have a strict dress code + usually require a cover to get in.

Let the weekend get litt with my top five nightclub picks that are straight fire 🔥:

  • Room Nine, 124 College St.
Thurs.-Sat. 9 p.m.-2 a.m. | Dress code enforced: no hats, hoodies, jerseys, athletic gear, etc. | Cover varies | Every night is a party with these themes: Thirsty Thursday drink specials, Ladies Night Friday, and Saturday DJ takeover. Bonus: VIP option in a private lounge/table with drinks.
  • Tiger Mountain, 112 N. Lexington Ave.
Every day 5 p.m.-2 a.m. | Cover varies | DJ on stage and occasional themed dance parties.
  • Paradox, 38 N French Broad Ave.
Thurs.-Sat. 10 p.m.-2 a.m. | Cover varies | This dance + music venue is pretty large with a spacious dance floor, VIP section + DJ booth.
  • Scandals Nightclub, 11 Grove St.
Fri.-Sun. 10 p.m.-3 a.m. | Cover varies | Located in the giant Grove House, Scandals has been in Asheville since 1987. The venues within the house include Club Eleven on Grove, Scandals, and the Boiler Room. Bonus: Hosts drag shows often.

And if nightclubs aren’t your thing but you enjoy getting down on the weekends, here are my other top nightlife picks:

  • Ben’s Tune Up, 195 Hilliard Ave.
    Mon.-Fri. 4 p.m.-2 a.m. + Sat.-Sun. 2 p.m.-2 a.m. | Ben’s has a great spot for live music + events out on their patio and back bar. Bonus: Turn Up Tuesdays.
  • MG Road, 19 Wall St.
    Mon.-Thurs. 5 p.m.-12 a.m. + Fri.-Sat. 5:30 p.m.-2 a.m. | The cocktail lounge to Chai Pani, MG Road is a smaller venue with DJ dance parties + karaoke nights.
  • The Imperial Life, 48 College St.
Every day 4:30 p.m.-12 or 2 a.m. | Located above Table, there is live music Mon.-Thurs. and a live DJ every Fri. + Sat. beginning at 9 p.m.
  • AUX Bar, 68 N. Lexington Ave.
Every day 11 a.m.- 2 a.m. | Casual dining by day, and a place for late-night dancing + DJs by nightfall.
  • Bier Garden, 46 Haywood St.
Every day 11 a.m.-2 a.m. | Bier Garden is not only great for watching sports + drinking a cold one, but they also have a great menu, game room, two bars, a dance floor + seating.
