Don’t miss the deadline on these Helene relief grants

Many local organizations launched Helene relief grants in the wake of the storm — but application deadlines are fast approaching.

Both individuals and businesses can find local help.

It’s been two months since Helene swept through our city, but recovery hasn’t slowed. Organizations all over the area have continued to offer support to a community working to rebuild — through goods, services, and funding. But for some of this funding, application deadlines are fast-approaching.

So we’ve gathered a few relief grants whose application windows are quickly closing.

Rebuilding Together Grant Fund | Deadline: Wednesday, Nov. 27
Initially funded by the City of Asheville and efforts of the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce and Mountain BizWorks, this grant allows small businesses to receive up to $25,000 for expenses not covered by insurance or other relief.

Emergency Relief Grant | Deadline: Saturday, Nov. 30
Storm-impacted artists of all disciplines can get stipends of $500 — so far, the organization has awarded 1,231 grants.

Asheville Fringe Artist Relief Fund | Deadline: Saturday, Nov. 30
If you are an artist or technician who participated in the Asheville Fringe Arts Festival between 2020 and 2024, you’re eligible to apply for one of the organization’s $250 grants.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance | Deadline: Monday, Dec. 2
More than 25 counties and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians have been approved for DUA from the NC Department of Commerce. You must complete a weekly certification to get paid.

We Are Grant | Deadline: Tuesday, Dec. 10
Established by the owners of Poppy Hand-Crafted Popcorn, SoulKu, and Plum Print, in collaboration with Hatch Innovation Hub, The Women Entrepreneurs Asheville Recovery Endeavor is offering grants to women-owned small businesses in WNC that were impacted by the storm.

Plus, the deadline to apply for Helene-related individual assistance from FEMA has been extended to Tuesday, Jan. 7. Apply online, through the app, or by calling 800-621-3362. You can also visit the local Disaster Recovery Center in the Asheville Mall.
