Services for Asheville newbies

Have any of y’all ever moved somewhere new?

You’re loving the new restaurants, meeting people, and experiencing cool places. It’s all fun and games until you’re six months in + desperately need a haircut.

We’ve always got you covered when it comes to all the exciting biz + developments happening around town, but today we want to crowdsource our network to help all the new folks get settled with their Asheville service providers.

We’ll start — Brook gets her hair cut at Union Hill Salon, and would find mobility much more difficult without massages + cupping from Lee Stanford. The staff at Pet Vet on Patton help keep her two rescue dogs healthy, and Leah B. Noel takes care of her taxes.

Jordan loves a fresh set of nails from Soho Nail Spa + trusts her hair to Brittanny Craig, owner of Craigfields Hair Studio. She loves the relaxing atmosphere Tracy McMahon creates at Breathe Intuit massage and for her golden retriever Delilah, she trusts Asheville Veterinary Associates West, Pawsitivity Pet Spa + Barkmore Park boarding.

Fun fact: Editorial Coordinator Shari has moved 19 times in her life. #ArmyBrat

Here’s how it works —

  • Click here to get started.
  • There are 23 categories. You can enter your favorite spots for as many or as few of the categories as you want.
  • Note: Make sure you’re choosing your favorite option, because you can only nominate one person/business per category. (Sorry, we don’t make the rules here — the platform we use does.)
  • For your first nomination, you’ll be asked to enter your first name + last initial and your email address and to verify you’re not a robot.
  • After that, simply enter the name of a great service provider in Asheville, + click “Nominate.”
  • For example, Brook would say under Personal Care > Hair Salons + Barber Shops > Your Nomination“Union Hill Salon.”
  • If you’d like, you can gush a little more about this person or biz in the “Why do you think they are the best?” section (but that’s not required). In this section, you could also mention what group your doctor is part of or the name of the gym your trainer works out of. You can include any links to Facebook, Instagram, or website pages that might be helpful too.

So, who are your trusted doggie groomers, optometrists, and personal trainers? Let us (and all the new Ashevillians) know.

**We plan to update this list annually, so let us know if you see something amiss.**
