Ever fantasize about going back to school? Whether you want to finish a degree or just learn something new, you can take a summer course at UNC Asheville.

We dug into the summer class schedule to find some of the most intriguing options. Here are 10 classes we’d love to take:

1. American Indian Film Studies | Online | Maymester, May 10-June 4 | Explore American Indian identity in Hollywood films from the silent film era through the 20th century. 🎬

2. The Food of Chemistry | Online | Maymester | Utilize the scientific method to evaluate the physical and chemical properties + changes involved in food and cooking. 🧪

3. Writing for Change | Online | June 15, 22, and 29, July 13 and 20 from 6-8:30 p.m. | Examine how authors from diverse backgrounds confront, challenge or reject the status quo through poetry, memoirs, short stories, and essays. 📚

4. History & Cultural Influence of Music on Fashion | Online | Summer 1, June 7-July 2 | Learn about the intersection of music and fashion: how music has influenced what we wear + how fashion shapes our music. 🎶

5. Immunology | In-Person | Summer 1 | Dive into the human immune system, from its anatomy to related disorders + diseases. 🦠

6. The Science of Physical Activity and Exercise | Online | Maymester | Study human movement and the physiological responses during exercise, plus the relationship between physical activity and health. 💪

7. Public Health Disasters: The Last 100 Years | Online | Maymester | Apply a global lens to infectious disease outbreaks, survey major events that have occurred worldwide, and create recommendations for the most pressing public health challenges faced today. 💉

8. Video Game Studies | Online | Summer 2, July 6-Aug. 2 | Investigate 40+ years of video game history, technology, global cultures + philosophies to discuss their influence and power. 🎮

9. Ethnic Literature: U.S. Latinx Writers | Online | Maymester | Explore contested definitions of “Latinx” ethnicity and identity in fiction, poetry, and essays by Chicanx, Boricua (Puerto Rican), Cuban American, Dominican American, and Salvadoran American writers. ✍️

10. Somatics and Embodiment | Online | Maymester | Review research, deconstruct cultural conditioning and create personal practices around sleep, mindfulness, movement and nourishment. 🧘
