While spring hasn’t yet sprung, we’re ready to put the petal to the metal. And what better way to celebrate the season of growth and renewal than with a brilliant bunch of flowers? From u-pick farms to flower CSAs and farm stands, here are eight local flower farms to explore.

Take your pick

Stepp’s Hillcrest Orchard, 170 Stepp Orchard Dr., Hendersonville
You can go ahead and buy tickets to the orchard’s Tulip Blossom Days to pick your own stems — don’t worry, your tickets aren’t valid until the farm is open for flower picking. Bonus: head back in late summer for sunflowers and zinnias.

The Never Ending Flower Farm, 152 Tom Harris Trail, Barnardsville
Unfortunately, deer seemed to love this farm’s tulips as much as we do, so they’re a no-go for this season. But more annuals will be ready for picking by mid-May. See what will be in bloom and tips for visiting.

Flower CSAs + subscriptions

Blazing Star Flowers
Sign up for the farm’s flower CSA program to get a fresh, fragrant, and beautiful bouquet weekly or biweekly. The spring flower share starts Thursday, March 27.

Encompass Farm
You can add a bouquet subscription to your weekly veggie box for a double dose of locally grown gems. The flower share runs from June through October.

Walker Town Farm
The Black Mountain farm offers a summer subscription that lets you pick up a vibrant array of blooming beauties twice a month from June to August.

Workshops

Flourish Flower Farm
The farm has online classes, workshops, a blog, and even a how-to book by owner Niki Irving. To see her Insta-worthy blooms peeking out of your garden next spring, shop the online bulb shop — the farm will ship you ranunculus, tulips, narcissus, and many more varieties.

Farm stands + shops

Carolina Flowers
You can find a stunning selection of flowers at the new Haywood Road shop, either OWL location, or on Saturdays at the Asheville City Market.

Flying Cloud Farm
The farm offers sustainably grown vegetables, berries, and flowers at its roadside farm stand. Come mid-April, you can pick up posies from the stand — and in mid-June, you can pick them straight from the soil.

Barry Farms
Follow the Mills River farm on social media to be in the know when the quaint and adorable Flower Shack opens for the spring.
