If being in isolation the past few months has given you serious fur-baby fever at some point, this one’s for you. We’ve decided to shed some light on local animals looking for their furever homes. DYK: November is also Adopt a Senior Pet month? We’ve highlighted some fluffy friends enjoying their golden years in our list – read on to meet them, and the rest of these adorable adoptable pets.
Why adopt a four-legged companion?
Every year, over one million cats and dogs are euthanized across the country because adoption centers become overcrowded. Those who adopt can save more than one animal’s life by freeing up shelter space for stray, abused + lost animals.
We’ve done some digging to highlight some of the lovable critters (cats and dogs) that need homes in + around Asheville.
Bongo
- Age: 6 years
- Male Boxer/Terrier
- Bongo is a very good boy, described by his foster family as “the perfect housemate.” He’s gentle, loves meeting new people, and would appreciate getting cozy with blankets, sweaters, and snuggles during cold weather.
Nova
- Age: 8 years
- Female Domestic Long-hair
- Nova enjoys being the Queen Bee (who can blame her with that lustrous coat?) and would work best in a house with no kiddos or other pets.
Bella
- Age: 2 years
- Female Shepherd/Mixed Breed (Medium)
- This enthusiastic girl loves people and cuddling (especially if you let her in the bed or on the sofa). She has a few health conditions that are under control with medication + a special diet.
Cubby
- Age: 4 years
- Male Domestic Shorthair
- This super-intelligent boy is the life of the party, and loves playing above all else.
Tazmania
- Age: 10 years
- Male Hound, Plott/Shepherd
- This wise old man has a young soul. He loves a good nap after a walk and will open up with the help of peanut butter + chew toys. Bonus: His adoption fee has been sponsored.
Beulah
- Age: 1 year, 7 months
- Female Domestic Shorthair
- Beulah would love a playmate at her forever home. She gets along well with both cats + dogs.
Mister Melon
- Age: 10 years
- Male Miniature Pinscher
- A calm home would be best for this sweetheart, who loves being outside + curling up in blankets.
Squash
- Age: 3 months
- Male Domestic Medium Hair
- We dare you not to fall in love with that face. Squash is a playful kitty, so get your feathers and balls ready.
Sally
- Age: 1 year, 4 months
- Female American Pit Bull Terrier
- This happy, energetic girl needs a lot of activity + playtime. We can’t get over that tongue.
Dill
- Age: 4 months
- Male Domestic Shorthair
- Will you be the one to bring slightly shy Dill out of his shell? He’d benefit from a social home or a home with an outgoing kitten or older cat to lead the way.
Sugar
- Age: 10 years
- Female Poodle
- This sweet senior gal came to Charlie’s Angels with lots of medical needs and is in much better shape now, though she’ll need regular checkups and dental visits. She’s looking for a sweet family to call her very own.
