Asheville Regional Airport breaks record, serving over two million passengers in 2023

The airport has another record-breaking year, with numbers soaring sky high.

2023 was a milestone year for the airport.

2,246,411. That’s how many passengers traveled to or from Asheville Regional Airport this past year, marking the highest passenger count in the airport’s history. This influx in travelers also represents a 22.2% increase from 2022’s stats.

What’s one reason for this rapid growth? More travel choices. AVL expanded its offerings to include 27 nonstop flights to destinations like Boston and Chicago and international hubs like LaGuardia. The airport is also in the midst of a terminal expansion project that will double its size and that’s expected to be completed by the end of 2026 — get the full picture of how that project is taking off.
