Yesterday, Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce + GE Aviation announced that they will be expanding operations in Asheville.

GE opened their Asheville plant in 2013 at Sweeten Creek Industrial Park, which creates ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) for jet engines + will also begin creating legacy nickel alloy rotating parts.

GE by the numbers:

  • GE currently employs 425 people in Asheville
  • 131 jobs will created with this expansion
  • $105 million will be invested into Asheville operations
  • The new positions will pay an average of 30% higher than the average wage of Buncombe County

No word yet on when the job openings will be announced, but we’ll keep you posted!
