Small businesses are the lifeblood of Asheville, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, compassion, and support. It’s a culture that’s especially important as entrepreneurs continue to recover in the aftermath of Helene.

In the spirit of support (and for Small Business Week, of course), we asked local business owners to write in sharing the love for another small biz that everyone in town should know about. Here’s what they said:

Mattie Lou’s has been killing it since they opened. Mattie is providing high-quality goods each day after taking over a local spot, Geraldine’s, and has created an awesome, welcoming, and friendly atmosphere in her space.” — Joey’s Bagels

Ross Farm is a wonderland of greenhouses. Such a fun place to explore. The staff is absolutely fantastic and knowledgeable about all of their plants, always offering help. They pitched in with all the resources they could during Helene. We were so very grateful for them. They put on super fun events a few times a year, too.” — Drawing Board Tattoo

Sugarcane Studios is a great alterations shop with really professional fittings, customer service, and turnaround times. Although their service is very old school, they’re reimagining tailoring in a very modern and creative way. They even make and sell their own accessories.” — Carolina Flowers

Patchwork Meadows is the vision created by a local ecologist, evolutionary biologist, and botanist who helps homeowners transform unproductive monoculture grassy lawns into thriving native pollinator habitats.” — Get Organized Asheville

There There. Mindy has created a space and place that feels like home by hosting other small businesses for pop-ups, nonprofits, and events that bring our community together. And her shop is filled with the most glorious goods and clothing.” — The Scout Guide Asheville

Spriggly’s Beescaping. They’re committed to preserving the native ecosystems of our mountains, a task that’s become even more crucial to our region’s wellbeing since the storm.” — Whistle Hop Brewing Co.

Mutts & Butts Soap Co! They make the best soaps, I’m so excited when I see them at markets because they always have some new scents to check out.” — On Tour Candle Co.

“I’ve taken a lot of inspiration over the years from Fermenti and Five Pine Farm. Being great examples of do-it-yourself and hustling hard to make it.” — Blue Ridge Chaga Connection

Kudzu Brands marketing agency. These ladies are good at what they do and are very genuine.” — Sterling Transitions

Caffeine N Fitness — a group and personal fitness gym, focused on functional strength for everyday folks and athletic performance for athletes. Bilingual trainer, inclusive environment. One of the few kettlebell trainers in town.” — The Fold, Massage and Bodywork Studio
