A new education initiative from UNC Asheville and the United South and Eastern Tribes, Inc. (USET) will bring programming and research in arts, crafts, storytelling, environmental sustainability, language, Tribal sovereignty, and other areas to the campus.
The goal is to create new educational opportunities + enhance cultural resources focused around Tribal sovereignty + U.S. federal relations.

Also in the plan:

  • UNCA’s American Indian & Indigenous Studies minor will be expanded to include curriculum specific to students coming from USET member Tribal Nations.

  • 20 slots will be set aside for these students beginning this August, with another 20 set aside for the following spring semester.
