There are countless reasons why July is a marvelous month in The Land of the Sky — but today, we’re settling on eight. That’s the number of events scheduled for Connect Buncombe’s Brewing for Greenways initiative.

Now in its eighth year, the month-long fundraising and public engagement campaign kicked off Fri., July 1. For eight nights this month, a different local brewery will host the all-volunteer advocacy nonprofit organization as it works to educate folks about current + future local greenways and their benefits (Think: an Asheville where you get from Point A to Point B through connected, walk-and-bike-friendly paths). Bonus — the proceeds from all those beers you’re gonna drink go directly to the greenway projects.

Also on the agenda? Educating the community about the county’s upcoming 2022 Open Space bond referendum, in which residents will vote on a $30 million bond for land conservation and greenways on the 2022 general election ballot in November.
