Did you know the percentage of campers who camp three+ times each year has increased 72% since 2014? If you’re in that group, simply want to explore more nature in and around AVL, or have a property that might make a great camp spot, let us introduce you to the Airbnb of camping: Explore Eden.

Since launching the app for renting land in April 2021, Explore Eden has grown to 20+ properties across three states (including our sister city, Nashville) and 2,000+ downloads. Next up: Asheville.

Becoming an Explore Eden Land Host

By listing a property with Explore Eden, landowners can earn another source of income with property they already own (read: turn that RV into an investment property) while providing unique outdoor experiences for Ashevillians and folks visiting our community.

The payoff? Land Hosts can potentially pay their property taxes for the year (or generate passive income) by hosting alone. Bonus: Explore Eden is now offering $500 guaranteed to their first five Land Hosts in the AVL area.

The listing details

Curious? If you own some sort of property or site with a nature element to it (read: located outdoors, with a scenic view or unique feature) you could become a Land Host. Appropriate properties include:

  • Raw land
  • Cabin
  • Cottage
  • Private Acreage
  • Glamping Structure
  • RV/Sprinter Van
  • Meadow
  • Farmland
  • Yurt
  • Tree House
  • Tipi
  • Bubble Dome

How to host

Hosting only takes a few quick clicks:

  1. Start by downloading the Explore Eden app and scrolling down to “Become Land Host.
  2. Fill out any applicable information on your listing (think: if you own private land, RVs, or cabins), and anything else that will help people experience the outdoors on your property.
  3. Name your price, pick your availability, and include any add-ons you’d like to offer campers.
  4. Aren’t sure if hosting is for you? Just fill out the form and get your questions answered by a team member.

The app has a calendar where hosts can set dates to be marked as “Available” or “Unavailable.” “Instant Booking,” where the guest automatically books an available date range, is also available.

Most importantly, the sites have to be safe for guests. There can’t be any dangerous wildlife or structures. Cabins should have functioning utilities like gas, water, and electricity. Depending on your location, one of Explore Eden’s team members can visit your site + verify the property to ensure that it’s acceptable for listing.

Thinking about it? See answers to FAQs (from cancellation policies to insurance) and explore tips on how to make your site successful via Explore Eden’s Host Welcome Guestbook.

Hosts also have full control over the nightly rate of their sites. Typically, if the property is intended to be used as a primitive campsite, a host will charge $60-70 per night. If it is a cabin, glamping structure, or RV, a host will usually charge between $150-300.

Hosts are paid the price of their property minus 3%. Payments are processed within 48 hours of the first day of the booking. Create your listing by downloading the app or click here to learn more.*
