Talk: The Appalachian Origins of the Modern Civil Rights Movement in the USA | Thursday, Feb. 22 | 6-7:30 p.m. | UNCA Humanities Lecture Hall | Free | Appalachian studies scholar William H. Turner will explore the various local + regional catalysts of the Modern Civil Rights Movement.

Show: Slam Poetry with Andrea Gibson | Thursday, Feb. 22 | 8 pm | The Grey Eagle | 185 Clingman Avenue Ext. | $25 / $22 | The spoken word poetry mastermind returns to AVL to thrill + challenge us with powerful poems about heartbreak, mental illness, and white supremacy.
