We see some great things happening Asheville every day by putting out this very newsletter you’re reading right now. And, we also read a lot about other communities because, #research.

So, in the spirit of innovation, here are 3 things that we’d love to see come to town.

  1. A (long) greenway system. The Greenville Health System Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville is 20.6 miles and runs right through downtown. It’s built on old railroad tracks and opened in 2009. You can bike, run or walk from Greenville to Travelers rest, all on a protected, paved trail. We’re blessed with all the mountain trails, but sometimes you want to start your ride right in downtown. (GVLtoday)
  2. A bike share program. Columbia is getting a bike share program of 125 bikes and 15 stations, which locals + tourists alike can rent for a few hours at a time. Bonus: 80% of the profits will go back to the City of Columbia to make their infrastructure more bike friendly. No comment on those Asheville hills. (COLAtoday)
  3. A (large) adventure center. Charlotte’s U.S. National Whitewater Center is home to rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, zip-lining, and 30+ miles of trails. Plus, a handful of restaurants and a whole concert series. Think of all that along the French Broad. (Charlotte Agenda)
